Established in 1978, Blue Valley Riding Center, LLC is a family owned and operated Hunter/Equitation barn in Northeast Pennsylvania. We specialize in developing equestrian athletes of all ages. Located just minutes from Rt. 33, Rt. 22, and I-78, we strive to provide you and your horses with excellence in equine care and management.
Amenities include a large indoor arena with a heated and air conditioned viewing lounge, two large outdoor rings (main ring is 150' x 250'), beautiful pastures, four lay-up pens, large stalls, indoor and outdoor wash stalls with warm water and heat, and a heated tack room. We attend USEF rated horse shows year-round as well as host our own local summer show series. We encompass all as a barn and have many adult and children riders. Showing is not a requirement and we welcome those not wanting to compete as well as those that do.
We also offer riding lessons to children and adults of all ages. We feel that the children are the future of this sport and we take great pride in developing confident and successful riders at a young age. We believe that children learn best in a friendly, fun and relaxed environment and we strive to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for riders of all ages and levels.
Hayley Colquhoun (Willever), the eldest daughter, began riding and showing at the age of three. After enjoying much success in the Pony Hunter ring as well as the Amateur-Owner ring, she decided to turn professional in November of 2011. Hayley enjoys training and teaching riders of all levels and age groups. She currently has numerous horses and ponies in training and is a tremendous asset to the family business. Hayley graduated from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in December 2012 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management.
Taylor Willever, the youngest daughter, has also recently declared herself professional in December 2016 after graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from East Stroudsburg University. As a junior, Taylor enjoyed much success in the Junior Hunter ring and picked up blue ribbons at every major "indoor" final horse show and also at the prestigious Devon Horse Show. After aging out of the junior ranks, she then went on to claim the 3'3" A/O Hunter 18-35 reserve championship title at the 2014 Devon Horse Show, the 3'6" A/O Hunter 18-35 championship at the 2015 Devon Horse Show, and the reserve championship titles at Harrisburg and the Washington International Horse Show. She now enjoys picking up the professional rides and was recently champion at the Devon Horse Show with Austin Kunsman's "Markus" in the Local Hunters.
